Youth and Government Takes the Capitol by Storm
HP High School students continue a history of state-level achievement,
placing 4th in Mock Trial and inspiring meaningful discussion on the legislative side
For the third year in a row, the HP Mock Trial team placed in the top 4 at State and were selected to perform in the Showcase Round, where they dominated their opponent. After excelling at District, the team faced 47 teams from across Texas from both public and private schools.

Hyde Park Panther Varsity Basketball Teams Take
First Place in Final Preseason Tournament
Both the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Basketball teams at Hyde Park Baptist High School enter district play this week as champions of the Brentwood Christian School Tournament. Both teams approached this tournament, which was held December 3-5, with the goal of solidifying team chemistry and unity, and both teams took home the First Place Trophy as well as the tournament MVP awards.

HP Choral Department hosts composer Joseph Martin conducts his new
cantata with HP Middle School and High School choirs
Hyde Park Baptist Schools welcomed composer Joseph Martin as guest conductor of the Hyde Park Choral Department for our presentation of his newest cantata, “The Mystery and the Majesty.” Mr. Martin has done a beautiful job of combining traditional carols with original songs while he draws a comparison of the manger to our hearts.

Hyde Park High School students ushered in the holiday season with an entertaining but meaningful presentation of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson (produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc). In this beloved story, the Herdman kids threaten to ruin the annual Christmas Pageant.

Over 400 lovingly-prepared shoe boxes will change the lives of children overseas this Christmas. The joy was evident on the faces of Hyde Park Baptist Elementary and Hyde Park Baptist Middle School students as they prepared and gave a gift from their hearts!

Building on Strong History, A New Chapter Begins
The Hyde Park family dedicates the new high school campus and opens
the book on the future on the first day of school
After a meaningful and exciting dedication event, Hyde Park High School faculty and students settled into their new home November 30. The dedication kicked off a new page in Hyde Park history, including the burial of a time capsule and a moving prayer by senior Andre Timmes, asking God to help students truly live out what they believe as they walk the halls of HPHS.

Hyde Park Baptist High School Student Is State Winner of Wendy’s High School Heisman
Fellow HPHS Student Is Finalist for the State Award
Hyde Park Senior Britt Brandon is one of two 2009 State Winners of the Wendy’s Heisman Award. Fellow HPHS student Katie Olson achieved Finalist status for the award. The Wendy’s High School Heisman (WHSH) honors outstanding student athletes for excellence in academics, athletics and community leadership.

The strong legacy of Hyde Park Baptist Schools began over 40 years ago with its founding in 1968. HP Middle School Students Identified to Participate in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program

Hyde Park continues to achieve excellence in Middle School as seen by the number of our 7th grade students who have already been identified to participate in the Duke TIP Program. A student is eligible to participate if they achieve a qualifying score in the 95th percentile or higher on a recent grade-level test, making eligibility itself an honor.

Earlier this fall, the American Legion honored local high school students and their parents at the historic American Legion Banquet Hall overlooking Lady Byrd Lake at the colonial headquarters of Squad #76. During the banquet, the floor was opened for remarks from students who participated at Boys State and Girls State this summer.

Hyde Park Elementary Science Inspires Creativity and Learning

At Hyde Park Elementary this month, the 5th graders took part in a wonderful hands-on science experiment making model roller coasters. Mrs. Flores stated, “The students were engaged in scientific inquiry to learn about energy in its various forms. Each team made a model roller coaster and observed how the speed of the marble changes as it goes up and down the roller coaster tracks and how energy changes from kinetic to potential and vice versa.  These hands-on activities enhance learning by reinforcing cognitive knowledge and allowing students to develop greater curiosity on the subject matter.”

 






Hyde Park's Homecoming Victory

The Homecoming Game vs. the Bryan St. Joseph’s Eagles ended with a 42-21 victory for Hyde Park.  Congratulations Panthers!
